Howdy has remained so popular over the years that many reproductions have been made, such as the Howdy riding the pig ceramic night light. This plastic seated Howdy night light with a round wooden base is hard to find these days. The night light is also a nodder, with a head that can turn and bobble (although not that much!). Howdy is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or breaks. His paint is in excellent condition as well. The colors are bright and not faded. The flash made his name on his neckerchief look faded, but it is fine. He has some rub marks of color, such as some white on the red part of one of his boots and a green spot (from his neckerchief paint) on the back of his shirt. There is also some age discoloration, e.g., on his hands, although it looks better than in person that in the pictures! The only thing that we did to the lamp was to add the on-off switch, which you can see on the base next to Howdy. The middle picture shows him lit up. The seated figure is about 5-1/2" high, not including the base which adds about three fourths of an inch. Also included in this auction is an old advertisement for this night light, referring to it as "The Howdy Doody Magic Twinkle Doll, the Perfect Television Night Lamp." This is a paper ad, 5" square. I do not know the origin of it. The items were purchased from a collector's estate. PaymentPayment accepted via Paypal, check or money order.
