Because if we have a long day ebay sales, with labeling, packing and shipping we are close to both an office store and UPS (they are in the same building here) we may use UPS that day for all item to save a half hour of driving to another place. Likewise DHL and Office Max are in the same building. If I have 12 small boxes to ship via Post Office I may sen a singel alrger one there to save time and fuel driving one package to FedEx. FedEx, DHL & UPS provide $100 value of Insurance for free to all of us. We have to Buy extra insurance with the US Post Office. HANDLING: I do not need to mention that van fuel (gas) costs money. More money every day. But also packing tape, labels printed and internet costs money. SHipping is not free. so this means handling and packing is not free. The key thing is to "think about the task." An item that is 6 inches long, sells for $10 and ships for $9 is not going to be a huge handling and packing task. Therefore those items may have little handling fees for materials and fuel.
